Technology That Sees
What Others Miss

From automated refraction to wide-field Optomap retinal imaging, we invest in the diagnostic tools that catch eye disease earlier — often before you notice any change in your vision.

OUR TECHNOLOGY

Sharper Diagnostics. Earlier Detection.

At Low Country Eye Care, every exam pairs the experience of our optometrists with advanced imaging — so we can confirm a healthy eye, detect concerns early, and build a clear record to track your eye health over time.

AUTOMATED REFRACTION & CORNEAL MEASUREMENT

A QUICK, PRECISE STARTING POINT FOR YOUR PRESCRIPTION

Our autorefractor uses advanced technology to quickly measure how your eyes focus light, providing an objective estimate of your prescription. It also measures the curvature of the cornea, giving our doctors valuable information about your eyes and helping guide your comprehensive eye examination.

  • ✓ Quick & comfortable: The measurement takes only a few seconds and requires no contact with the eye.
  • ✓ Measures your prescription: The instrument provides an objective estimate of your sphere, cylinder, and axis — important measurements for determining your glasses or contact lens prescription.
  • ✓ Measures your cornea: Keratometry measures the curvature of the cornea and helps identify corneal astigmatism, providing useful information for contact lens evaluations.

The autorefractor is one part of your comprehensive eye examination. Its measurements give your doctor an important starting point, which is then refined through additional testing to determine the prescription that provides you with your clearest, most comfortable vision.

OPTOMAP RETINAL EXAM

A Wide View of Your Whole Retina

The retina captures the image of what you see — much like film in a camera — and it reveals a great deal about your overall health. The Optomap produces a wide, detailed map of the retina, giving your doctor far more to work with than traditional methods allow.

  • ✓ Confirms or detects:
A scan to confirm a healthy eye, or to reveal the early presence of disease.
  • ✓ A detailed map:
A broad overview of the retina beyond what other means can achieve.
  • ✓ Reviewed together:
You can view and discuss your Optomap images with your doctor during the same visit.
  • ✓ A permanent record. Images stay in your file so we can make meaningful comparisons at future exams.

Conditions such as macular degeneration, glaucoma, retinal tears and detachments — along with diabetes and high blood pressure — can often be detected through a thorough exam of the retina, frequently before any symptoms appear.
