The Story of Bajío Sunglasses

Bajío launched in 2021 out of New Smyrna Beach, Florida, founded by eyewear-industry veterans Al Perkinson and Marguerite Meyer. After decades at leading fishing brands, they set out to build something fiercely independent and employee-owned — with one obsession: making the clearest sunglasses on the water.

The name says everything. Bajío is Spanish for the shallows — the flats where so much sea life is born. Those same flats are what the brand designs for, and what it works to protect through conservation.

The heart of it all is the lens: polarized, color-enhancing, and built to help you see straight into the water and spot the fish others miss.

Bajío’s edge lives in the lens. Its proprietary LAPIS™ technology is built into the lens itself — not added as a coating — to block harsh blue light, cut glare and haze, and reveal what’s under the surface.

Bajío sunglasses are known for:
